Claim Your Narrative

I don’t play the dotar, but I am working on it.

I am not a poet but I won’t shy away from the opportunity to increase my poetic capacity.

Alhamdulilah the short film my team and I created recently won an award. But I am not a film maker.

My mother tongue almost slipped out of my grip, something I work on daily in hopes of reclaiming my identity.

The moral of this post being self awareness. Too often we associate ourselves with arbitrary titles, limiting our capacity to just a few outlets.

I do not label myself as an activist, but I will not stop fighting until I can shake my cousins hand and assuring him that his served time wasn’t for nothing.

People say you should fake it till you make it, you’re not faking anything when you work hard towards your dreams.

Alhamdulilah I’ve had the privilege and the blessing to meet people whom I have only heard about on the tv or in a book. What I have learned is that they pick up their work one day at a time, until the public notices the mountain of accomplishments they produced.

Don’t shy away from your dreams, the media tries to divide our attention and choose our lives for us. Reclaim your narrative and nurture your own growth.
